Our Story

Gears for Success expands access to quality education for students in underserved communities in Guyana by providing essential learning resources, hands-on STEM programming, and long-term mentorship.

What We Do

We partner directly with schools in rural and under-resourced communities to identify gaps in infrastructure, materials, and enrichment opportunities.

Our work focuses on three pillars:

1. Resource Access

We build and maintain learning spaces such as libraries and mathematics rooms, and provide essential materials including textbooks, science kits, and classroom supplies.

2. Experiential Learning

We host free science camps and hands-on STEM programs that complement the school-year curriculum. These programs culminate in community science fairs where families participate in their children’s learning.

3. Mentorship

We provide ongoing encouragement and guidance to students as they transition from primary to secondary school, helping them navigate academic opportunities and build confidence in their abilities.

We design every initiative in collaboration with headteachers, teachers, and families to ensure the support is practical, relevant, and sustainable.

We serve primary and secondary school students in rural Guyana.

Many of these schools face flooding, overcrowded classrooms, limited textbooks, and minimal exposure to enrichment opportunities. Students often share worn materials and lack access to dedicated learning spaces.

Our focus is early intervention. When students are given the right environment and support at a young age, their academic trajectory can change.
